Michael Higgins' 95B to Premiere at Phantoscope, Cork

Phantoscope is the quarterly experimental film event at Cork's Triskel Christchurch Cinema, which I programme. The next screening is one I am particularly proud to announce: the premiere of Michael Higgins' truly extraordinary 95B, one of the most visionary films I've seen in recent years to be made in Ireland or anywhere else.

The screening will take place on Thursday March 28th at 5.15pm. Tickets are available now.

This is the Triskel programme listing:

95B

103 mins | Ireland 2023

Director: Michael Higgins

Starring: Natasha Everitt, Alain Servant, Cillian Roche

The latest feature by Michael Higgins, one of Ireland’s most renowned experimental filmmakers, is a visionary drift into a cinematic universe unlike any other. Memories populate a woman’s time on board the canal boat 95B as she navigates an environment held captive to an unnatural occurrence. Aimlessly adrift with an abundance of time, characters are encountered, remote areas are uncovered but in the absence of hope nothing is gained, only honey. 95B explores themes of environmental anxiety, non-attachment and social alienation through several elements of the post-apocalyptic science-fiction genre.

Filmmaker Michael Higgins plus several members of the cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening
