Thurs 6 Oct, 6.30pm
Triskel Christchurch Cinema, Cork
Phantoscope, Triskel’s quarterly experimental film programme, is delighted to welcome Yvonne McDevitt to present and discuss three of her short films. Occupying a truly personal space between fiction, experimental and documentary cinema, her films approach themes of history, memory, relationships and displacement with a distinctively poetic sensitivity. In Horse (2013), a blind woman (Olwen Fouéré) has just returned from War. In Time (2015), dedicated to the great Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Peleshian, a girl watches time go by from a train. And in Blindness (2016), a Syrian refugee follows her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend in London.
Yvonne McDevitt is a multi-award winning artist and filmmaker, and UCC Film Artist in Residence 2022. She will be in conversation with Phantoscope programmer Maximilian Le Cain after the screening.
