Principal photography has now wrapped on The Clarnwall Castaways, my new feature film. This experimental narrative unfolds in a haunted pocket of non-time on the shore between life and death where unresolved desire and generational tensions assume strange and often nightmarish forms.

It stars Elaine Malone, Katie Gerardine O’Neill, Sheila Santiago and Aisling O Connell. Elaine Malone will also be creating the sound for the film. Shells Le Cain was responsible for designing and orchestrating the film’s lighting. The Clarnwall Castaways was funded by an Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon @artscouncilireland Project Award.

Shooting this film proved a joyful creative adventure throughout and I’m deeply grateful to each of my talented and inspiring collaborators, old and new, for sharing it - a dream cast and crew in at least three senses of the word. My sincere thanks also go out to the Arts Council not only for funding the film but for the creative freedom they allow us to operate in.

I would also like to acknowledge the generous support of the organisations and individuals who allowed us access to crucial locations, especially Sirius Arts Centre and Spike Island Without their exemplary openness to facilitating artists on their premises, this film would not have been possible. The Clarnwall Castaways was shot entirely in and around Cobh, Co.Cork and this location is a major character in the drama.
